A full-length documentary feature film.
In November of 2021, Karu Thompson set out to produce a documentary film, following the captivating life story of his electrical engineer grandfather, Desineni Subbaram Naidu. From farming peanuts in a rural Indian village to working in the U.S. for NASA, it took much logistical planning and travel to shoot all necessary footage, in order to present the story in its fullest form. Still in the works, below is a snippet of the coming final product, along with extensive notes showing the planning process.

From peanut farmer to NASA engineer: depicting the miraculous story of a farmers’ son finding a spark that could help him escape an impoverished village in rural India. Fighting through the doubts and cultural blocks of the mid 20th century, he must find a way to achieve status and success — possibly even leave India and its corrupt government — something that really is rocket science.
Expected completion in ~1 year, with plans to submit to international film festivals upon finalizing a completed edit.
